Fishies documents
Privacy policy
Last updated .
1. Overview
This policy describes data processing when you visit fishies.ru. The site is operated by the owner and administrator of the Fishies project. Privacy enquiries can be sent to admin@fishies.ru.
The public catalog can be browsed without an account. An account is required only for interactive features such as card reports and future aquarium projects. Fishies does not ask visitors for passport, payment, medical, or other sensitive personal information.
2. Data processed
When you visit the site, the following data may be processed automatically: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, pages viewed, visit time and duration, interaction events, approximate location, and technical identifiers stored in cookies or localStorage.
When you register, Fishies stores your email, chosen display name, a cryptographic password hash, and account creation and confirmation dates. Hashed technical tokens, a session cookie, IP address, and action timestamps are processed for sign-in, email confirmation, account recovery, and abuse prevention.
When you submit a card report, Fishies stores its text, evidence links, language, the selected card and a snapshot of the displayed value, together with its status and the editor’s response. The server also creates technical logs needed to operate the site, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse.
3. Purposes
- providing and protecting the site;
- diagnosing errors and preventing abuse;
- measuring traffic and improving Fishies content, structure, and usability;
- responding to visitor enquiries;
- creating accounts, confirming email addresses, and recovering access;
- reviewing reports and improving published cards.
Analytics data is not used to decide whether an aquatic organism can be kept and will not influence the results of the future selection tool.
4. Yandex Metrica and Session Replay
Public information pages use Yandex Metrica tag 112153280, including Session Replay, click maps, and link tracking. The service provides aggregated traffic statistics and helps us understand how visitors interact with pages. The tag is not loaded in administration, sign-in, registration, account, recovery, or card-report pages. Text entered in search fields is excluded from Session Replay.
Metrica may use cookies, localStorage, and other technical identifiers and may receive device, page-view, and interaction information. Yandex processes this information under the Yandex Privacy Policy. Its analytics cookies are described in the service documentation.
You can restrict or block cookies in your browser or use tools that block analytics scripts. Public Fishies content remains available if you do so.
5. Retention and disclosure
Data is accessible only to people and services that need it to operate, protect, and analyse the site. The SMTP provider receives the email address and technical service-message content solely to deliver that message. Yandex stores and processes Metrica data according to the tag settings and its service documents.
An account is retained while it is used or needed for linked reports. A session is set for 30 days, confirmation links for 24 hours, and password-reset links for 1 hour; expired and consumed records may be removed later during maintenance. Rate-limit events older than two days are automatically cleaned up. Reports and decisions may remain as editorial history, while author data can be erased or anonymised after a valid request where applicable requirements permit.
Fishies does not sell personal data or allow advertisers to change species cards or selection results.
6. Your enquiries
To request information about data processing, correction, or deletion, email admin@fishies.ru. Describe how to contact you and the data concerned. The administrator may request reasonable verification needed to protect information from unauthorised access.
7. Changes
This policy may change when Fishies features, connected services, or applicable requirements change. The current version is always published on this page and its revision date appears above.
