Juncus repens

Creeping rush (Juncus repens) is a low herbaceous plant from the sedge family, often found in marshy areas, along water bodies, and in shallow waters. It is characterized by thin, curved stems and narrow linear leaves; a distinctive feature of the species is its creeping rhizome, which actively spreads and forms dense mats. In aquariums and paludariums, Juncus is valued for its natural 'wild' texture and ability to quickly green the space. The plant is undemanding and grows well both submerged and emersed, preferring soft or neutral water (pH 6.5–7.5) and bright diffuse light. It propagates easily by division of the clump, and dense planting helps create impressive natural compositions and provides shelter for small fish and shrimps.
