Ceratophyllum demersum

Ceratophyllum demersum—dark green, cosmopolitan, rootless, long-stemmed plant with stiff, needle-like leaves arranged in whorls. One of the most undemanding aquarium plants: grows in a wide temperature range (16–30 °C) and water parameters, requires no CO₂ or additional fertilization. Used as a floating plant or for background decoration, provides shelter for fry, and acts as a natural filter, actively absorbing nitrates and phosphates. Characterized by very rapid growth (up to 10–20 cm per week) and requires regular trimming.
