FeedingIn nature, Clown Rasbora is a micro-predator feeding on small insects, worms, crustaceans, and zooplankton. In the aquarium, the fish is undemanding and readily accepts quality dry flakes and small granules, as well as live and frozen foods: daphnia, Artemia, and bloodworms. For optimal coloration and condition, it is recommended to regularly provide small live and frozen foods.
Compatibility
CompatibilityA very peaceful schooling species, ideal for community tanks with other small peaceful fish: tetras, other rasboras, dwarf cichlids, catfish, loaches, and calm labyrinth fish. Avoid large or aggressive fish, as well as species prone to fin nipping. Keeping a group of 8–10 or more reduces nervousness and reveals natural behavior.
Plant safetySafe
Plant-eating behaviourThe species does not eat live aquarium plants. In the wild, it is a micro-predator feeding on small insects, worms, crustaceans, and zooplankton; in the aquarium, it readily accepts small live and frozen foods, as well as high-quality flakes and granules.
Incompatible groupsKleiner's Rasbora is a peaceful, schooling species, so large predatory or territorial aggressive fish (large cichlids, large barbs) that might see it as food or constantly harass it are unsuitable; active fin-biting species and overly aggressive tank mates that compete for food and cause chronic stress should also be avoided.
