Tanichthys albonubes

Cardinal fish (Tanichthys albonubes) are small (up to 4 cm), cold-water schooling fish from the family Tanichthyidae, native to mountain streams of southeastern China and northern Vietnam. They are hardy, peaceful, and feature a bright neon stripe along their body. The species is threatened in the wild (second conservation status in China), but all aquarium specimens are bred on farms. Suitable for beginners; optimal temperature 15–22°C, pH 6.5–7.8.
