Otocinclus macrospilus

Otozinclus macrospilus is a miniature freshwater catfish from the family Loricariidae, reaching 3.5 cm. It inhabits the upper Amazon basin (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador). Peaceful schooling fish, ideal for densely planted aquariums; feeds on algae growths and biofilm, not damaging healthy plant leaves. Requires a mature aquarium with stable water parameters (pH 5.5–7.5, 21–26°C), good aeration, and groups of 5–6 or more. Sensitive to transportation and water quality, especially in the first weeks after purchase.
