Sparrow Corydoras

Corydoras hastatus

Gastrodermus hastatus (formerly Corydoras hastatus) is one of the smallest members of the armored catfish family (Callichthyidae), reaching about 2.5–3.5 cm in length. It inhabits the Amazon and Paraguay basins in South America. Unlike most Corydoras, it leads a semi-pelagic lifestyle, spending most of its time in the middle water layers. It is a peaceful, schooling fish suitable for groups of 6–10 individuals in tanks of 40–54 liters. Optimal parameters: temperature 20–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, hardness 2–12 °dGH. Omnivorous, prefers small sinking foods. Reproduction involves egg-laying on plants and glass.
